About

Sonic Rodeo is rooted in the Marfa community and brings together emerging and established artists from West Texas and beyond. It is a space for connection through sound—where local voices and visiting artists meet to share experimental and site-responsive works inspired by the West Texas landscape. At its heart, Tierras Sonidas celebrates collective listening, place-based art, and the power of gathering.

Sonic Rodeo 2025 is a gathering devoted to experimental sound, art, collective experience, and deep listening—rooted in the vast wilderness of the Chihuahuan Desert. Held in Marfa, Texas, the three-day event brings together emerging and established artists from Texas, the region, and beyond to create a space of resonance, collaboration, and care.
The first seeds of the Sonic Rodeo were planted during the opening performance of Not Flowers, a solo exhibition by Mo Eldridge at Do Right Hall in 2023. That evening saw a convergence of sonic energy around a communal table, with performances by Super Ethereal Champion World, Anthony DeSimone, Veronica Anne Salinas, Liv Mershon, Eric Capper, and Mo Eldridge, filling the space with resonance and shared presence.
We carry that energy forward into this and future Sonic Rodeos—celebrating experimental sound and art inspired by the desert and invite you to listen with us, September 12–14, 2025.
This gathering is supported by The City of Marfa and donors like you!
